That's where you need to establish a second Island of course the new world which behaves like its own little sub-universe and of course you need to set up supply routes. If you play Anno for the first time it becomes confusing or though to manage right at the third level. This game has a lot more in common with Factorio than it has with AoE.ĭo you mean the 3rd Residence Level or Workers? Workers are the first time you upgraded. Except for the fact they look kinda similar and they both have ships, the gameplay is completely different. So if you're looking for a RTS game ala Age of Empires, forget it.

So the chains of goods become quite complicated and you're always keeping up with demand. The higher tier citizen you have the more complex their needs become. There's no problem in playing this game without AI opponents. At one point i will go on a destruction spree, but for now its just not necessary. I also have only like 10 battle cruisers because all my influence is tied up in the Museum, Garden and Zoo. I don't have the time to go fight them and possibly get my trade routes screwed up. If pirates want a war, i just pay them off.

On top of that i'm constantly doing expeditions/diving to find legendary items. While i'm doing this, im slowly upgrading the Arctic, all the while fiddling with my main island and building on two more to completely move lower citizen classes there.

I need more islands in the New World since i need all the coffee in the world. Just to give you an example, i'm currently trying to go from 13k investors (the last tier) to 20k. To create a really big empire you need to coordinate trade routes, optimize production lines, use the space well etc. The "meat" of this game is resource management. Its simple and probably the weakest part of the game. Its something to make the game a bit more challenging if someone wishes it to be. Mate based on what you wrote your expectations of this game are different from what it is.Ĭombat in Anno is an afterthought.
